About Me
Below I have included some information about my background in music and my philosophy of teaching.
My Background
I have been teaching music either full or part time for the past 20 years.
I am a fully qualified piano teacher, holding the Diploma of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (DipABRSM).
I believe in lifelong learning, and have just undergone an extensive professional development course on piano performance, with an ex-Royal College of Music teacher.
I have a wide experience of teaching from pre-grade 1 to post grade 8, and in the last year two of my students have taken their performance diplomas.
I trained for a total of 4 years in all aspects of singing technique, and specialise in Musical Theatre in my current teaching practice.
Once again I work with students at all grades, and am currently supervising eight people through their grade 8, and a further four through their diploma. I count this as both a great challenge and a great privilege.
I also work alongside Dance Teacher Jason Thomas, providing group singing tuition to his Kidz Unlimited and Senior Dance Company.
My Philosophy Of Teaching
I believe that every student is unique, and so lessons are tailored to individual needs.
I have a wide range of students from children to adults, studying classical through to Jazz and contemporary styles, beginners to advanced.
Some wish to do exams and festival performances whilst others wish to play or sing simply for pleasure.
So the key words in my philosophy are student choice.
As far as possible I will tailor lessons to meet your needs.
My Expectations
My pledge to you is that I will commit myself to working hard for you from the very outset of your lessons.
In return I expect students to commit to attending lessons as agreed, and doing the necessary practice for their stage of learning.
I do regularly conduct reviews of lessons and goals with students.
